Summer

  • The Henry Fork Service Center participates in the USDA & VDOE Summer Food Service Program, providing breakfast from 8:45-9:30 and lunch from 12:00-1:15.  The menu includes kid-friendly foods and incorporates fresh produce when possible, some of which is grown in the raised bed gardens on the Henry Fork Campus.
  • We want to get our students moving during the summer, so all classes hike and swim one day each week.
  • Teachers plan Christian Education that fits the weekly theme for each week of the summer.  Stories, music, and arts and crafts are used to teach the Bible stories to the students.  Academic enrichment is also an important component, ensuring that students do not forget what they have learned in school the previous year.  Some activities include cooking, nature walks, and science experiments.
  • Field trips are a fun way to get out of the building and explore the community.  Each class participates in an end-of-summer field trip, as well as other smaller trips throughout the program.  Students enjoy the experiences this offers them.
  • Work Teams bring Vacation Bible School, songs, games, stories, and art.  VBS allows our youth to participate with other youth in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
